Formula of the ARGOL® Virin ointment derives from the one of the oldest and complex medicinal products, known as Essence of the Carmelite, and contains five components which are part of this historical medicine.

1. What is ARGOL® Virin and what is it used for
Argol ARGOL® Virin contains a mixture of natural essential oils with antibacterial and antiviral activity and it is used for the topical treatment of symptoms:
- Recurrent herpes causing changes in the area of the lips, face and nasal vestibule (H infection Herpes simplex type 1),
- Recurrent herpes that causes changes to the genitals, anus and buttocks (infection with Herpes simplex virus type 2),
Ointment applied topically, immediately after the first herpes symptoms such as redness, itching, burning or pain prevents the development of a full picture of the disease in the form of inflammation, swelling, painful lesions, difficult to heal bubbles and deep erosions.
Early drug use also prevents the occurrence of bacterial changes and transfer of infection (by contact with highly infectious liquid from bubbles) to other parts of the body such as eyes. In the treatment, ointment reduce duration of the symptoms developed by the disease, reduces or eliminates inflammation, swelling, burning and itching and accelerates the healing of skin lesions and resolution of pain (including the resolution of long-term nerve pain zosteriform). Ointment cures bacterial infection responsible for the formation of erosions and scars.
2. Before you take ARGOL® Virin
ARGOL® Virin should not be used:
- In case of hypersensitivity to components of the ointment
- For burns, open sores and severe skin inflammation.
Take special care with ARGOL® Virin:
- Before and after use of ointment wash hands thoroughly.
- Apply the ointment away from the eyes or mucous membranes. In the case gets into the eye wash eye with plenty of water.
Use caution in certain special groups of using the medicine:
Taking ARGOL® Virin by children:
- Ointments should not be used by children under 6 years
Taking ARGOL® Virin during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Ointments are not recommended for use by pregnant women and nursing without consulting a doctor.
3. How to take ARGOL® Virin
Applie ointment topically to the skin and mucous membranes. Squeeze tube with a small amount of ointment and lubricated with a thin layer of pathologically changed places several times a day (3-4 times). You should not scratch lesions, or remove scubs due to the potential transfer of infection in any other place, or scarring. Ointment should be applied immediately after the first symptoms of the disease in the form of redness, itching, burning and pain. Quick apply ointment prevents the emergence of bubbles and secondary bacterial infections. Lubrication surrounding skin eruptions increases the effectiveness of the ointment. Before and after using the ointment, wash your hands thoroughly. Duration of treatment is an average of 5 days. In the case of worsening symptoms you should consult with a doctor.
4. Possible side effects
With hypersensitivity to the components may occure hypersensitivity reactions. In this case, therapy should be discontinued. If you notice any side effects please inform your doctor.
5. Storing ARGOL® Virin
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date that is stated on the packaging. Do not store above 25° C.
6. Further information about drug ARGOL® Virin
Herpes simplex viruses type 1 and 2 are transmitted by droplets, through touching or sexual contact and invade a host organism through damaged oral mucosa or facial skin (herpes labialis), and mucous membranes or skin, genital and perianal (herpes genitalis). Primary infection may be asymptomatic or symptomatic (often linked to complications such as raised temperature, swollen lymph nodes, extensive and profound changes in the skin), and often goes into a period of latency. Depending from immunodeficiency of the immune system, infection can adopt form of recurrent changes, such as badly healing sores, inflammation, swelling, pain and itching. Recurrent infections are often combined with bacterial infections.
